Without a doubt, the Aun Kheng Lim's salted chicken is the best salted chicken that I have tried so far. So many kinds of media and publications has featured their signature dish over countless times. It is located very near to the Restoran Nasi Ayam Pak Kong (Opposite street). When you go there, you can see alot of these boxes every where in their shop. They pack these salted chicken (wrapped in white tracing paper) in it, they will start asking how many you want. If it's available, you can get the bird, paid, packed and back to your car in less than 5 minutes. The salted chicken is marinated with some chinese herbal spices and seasoned with salt. The chicken is so tender and juicy that it can fall off the bone. They imporated their special salt from Africa to prepare their dish. They method of cooking the chicken inside an oven like big pan with the salt; wrapping with the tracing paper helps retain the juices of the chicken. So you will be able to taste "tong kuei" all over it's juice and the chicken. Not to be miss, when you dropped by Ipoh. One bird is not enough!
