Although this is not your "fine dining" of korean food, you can see they put a lot of effort in making the food presentable and make you feel special. At a price that wont break the bank, this is some amazing stuff.

Consisting of a kimchi (no korean meal is complete without kimchi) fresh salad and an array of appetizer snacks, they take simple ingredients and take it to a whole new level. Even the rice looks appetizing with seaweed shreds. The real deal only starts when you start biting into the chicken meat. Don't be fooled by its simple looks, explosive flavor and evenly distributed, i would say its excellent. Their greatest skill must be in preparing the marinated chicken.

The only disappointment is the fact that there are lots of processed ingredients there, sausages, crabsticks, fish paste, beancurd, pickled papaya which makes it feel its "a little unhealthy" and cheapens it a little. But you cant blame them though, its one of the most affordable korean around.

Economy Rice

Lunch at Ka Hiong Mee   RM 4.50

If you look at my plate you can see its really a lot of stuff (I think i took too much) The cooking is seriously great, and if you are a big eater this gives you the most value for money. If i take this amount in karamunsing food court, i think i'll have to pay a bomb. The taste only loses out to Ang's Hotel, by far the best tasting dishes in the economy rice category

Nasi Goreng Pattaya

Lunch at Karamunsing Food Court   RM 4.50

This fried rice is actually quite good, the chicken and rice inside is quite tasty and the egg outside is done nicely. Topped with chili sauce, its the best type of fried rice! It gets 4 stars though because the fried rice is only cooked with chicken and mixed vege.

Giandula Ice Cream Cake

Supper at Vedablu   RM 9.50

Mixing ice cream into cake does changes it into something very different. Coated with chocolate shavings and hazelnuts, the giandula (hazelnut cream & chocolate) ice cream is given a new texture and gives it much more excitement than just eating ice cream alone.

Cookies & Cream Milkshake

Supper at Vedablu   RM 8.00

Its good but cookies and cream would taste much better as ice cream compared to milkshake. It doesn't have a strong distinctive taste and milk isnt the perfect companion to bring out its flavor (it already tastes like milk anyway!)
Still its quite good

Irish Cream Milkshake

This is one of the best milkshakes I've tasted so far. Milkshakes should be made using ice-cream to give it a smooth texture. Irish cream makes the best combination when mixed with milk and topped with some whipped cream

Economy Rice

Pretty pricy for something that tastes so normal, nothing great, and amount also quite little. Not exactly satisfying

Roast Pork Rice

Lunch at Kedai Kopi Gunung Emas   RM 4.50

Yup, this is still one of the best places to find roast pork, cripsy skin and tasty meat (just a little tough for me). The rice gives a strong aroma and they give a nice big bowl of soup. The sauce that comes with the roast pork is the best around KK, a bit salty but very full in flavor.

Roast Chicken

Dinner at Kepayan Ayam Panggang   RM 13.00

My dad buys this whole chicken while on the way back from work. I've been eating this like for almost 10 years ever since I came to Sabah. Seriously for something thats hidden in kepayan next to the highway, its really good, the chicken is marinated to the core, flavor very strong even in the breast meat and coal grilled to perfection.

Baked Cheese Cake

Supper at Nica Cafe   RM 3.80

Quite smooth texture for an ordinary cake. Not bad considering the price. The cheese is not really strong, good for those who are not crazy about cheese.
